A few days ago at Stanwix, near Carlisle, Mr. Jonathan DONALD of Caldew Gate, to Miss ROBSON of Cargo.

[According to FamilySearch, Jonathan DONALD, aged 31, and Dorothy ROBSON, aged 30, married on 20 Mar 1779 at Stanwix.]

 

At Workington, Pearce DAVIS, a private in the Denbighshire Militia, to Mrs. ROUTLEDGE, an accomplished widow lady with ten children.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, the bride's forename was Eleanor; they married on 28 Mar 1779 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven (not at Workington).]

 

DIED

 

Sunday last, at Hollands near this town, after a short illness, Miss Betty BIRKETT, in the 18th year of her age.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Elizabeth BIRKETT, daughter of Henry, aged 18, was buried on 30 Mar 1779 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]

 

At Carlisle, Mr. John SOWERBY, an eminent carpenter.

[According to FamilySearch, John SOWERBY, aged 56, was buried on 22 Mar 1779 at St. Mary, Carlisle.]
