Saturday last at Workington, Capt. James SCOTT, of the Rupert, to Miss TROUGHEAR formerly of Dovenby.

[Marriage bond: James SCOTT, aged 31, and Hannah THOHEAR, aged 28. According to the Parish Register Transcript, the groom was a mariner, and they married on 01 May 1779 at Workington.]

 

Same place, Capt. Joseph ATKINSON of the Endeavour, to Miss Nancy WILSON.

[According to the Marriage Bond, they were Joseph ATKINSON of Workington, Marriner, aged 27, and Ann WILSON of Workington, aged 23, Daughter of John WILSON of Workington, Marriner. According to the Parish Register Transcript, they married on 01 May 1779 at Workington.]

 

A few days ago, at Kirkby in Lancashire (by the Rev. Mr. PEARSON) Mr. John WOODBURN of Croglen, to Miss Sally ADDISON of Beckstones.

Saturday last at Bootle, by the Rev. Mr. SMITH, Mr. Joseph BENN of Middleton-place, to Miss HOBSON of Seaton in Bootle.

Thursday se'ennight, at Wigton, Mr. Jeremiah WISE, aged 55.

Lately at the same place, Mr. John SMITH; he was a soldier in Queen Ann's wars, and had a pension upwards of 50 years.

At Bath, the Rev. Dr. GREEN, Lord Bishop of Lincoln.

Last week, at Wash-House near Workington, Mrs. Jane STAINTON in the 90th year of her age.

Last week at Douglas, Isle of Mann, after a long and severe indisposition, Mr. John TAYLOR, merchant, greatly respected by all who knew him. [According to Manx National Heritage, Wm. John TAYLOR was buried on 23 Mar 1779 at Braddan.]
