On the 3d ult. at Hatton, Warwickshire, the Rev. James BIRKITT, A. M. of Haydon Bridge, Northumberland, to Susanna, second daughter of the Rev. William JACKSON, of Hatton.

 

The Rt. Hon. the Earl of Clare, to the Hon. Miss BURRELL, daughter of Lord and Lady Gwydyr.

 

DEATHS.

 

At Carlisle, on Friday evening last, Mr. T. K. ATKINSON, solicitor, eldest son of Thos. ATKINSON Esq. of English-street, Carlisle, aged 26, to the great grief of a very large circle of friends. Mr. A. had been gradually declining under a consumptive complaint for a period of nearly two years, and tried the effect of change of climate and scenery by repairing to the coast of Devonshire, but all to no purpose. He had not been at Sidmouth more than a few weeks before he exhibited symptoms which induced his physician to advise his immediate return to Carlisle, a journey of more than 400 miles, which he accomplished, by easy stages, with unexpected comfort; but having reached home, he gradually grew worse, till, on Friday night, he slept away in the arms of death without a pang. Possessed of a most amiable disposition, he was universally beloved and respected; and had he lived, his acquirements and great natural talents would have rendered him an ornament to his native city.

 

Since our last, Mrs. Margaret LIDDLE, of Castle-street, aged 61. Mrs. Mary DODGSON, English-street, aged 78. Mary NORMAN, Scotch-street, aged 19.

 

On Monday last, at the house of Mr. MITCHINSON, Angel Inn, in this City, Mr. George THOMPSON, of Glasgow, aged 52. His death was occasioned by a severe concussion of the brain, owing to his falling down some steps in the above house. Mr. T. had arrived in the Herald coach on the Saturday evening preceding in good health. He was much respected.

 

Jan. 15, at Bowness, Mrs. Dinah RITSON, aged 98 years. (This person's decease was previously announced inaccurately.)

 

At Tarn-house, near Brampton, on Sunday last, Mrs. MOSES, aged 73, relict of the late Mr. John MOSES, of Tarn-house.

 

On Saturday last, Mr. Robert NICHOLSON, of Rule Holme, near Brampton, aged 82.

 

At Penrith, on the 29th ult. Miss Barbara LANCASTER, aged 37. Same place, on the 1st inst. Archibald M'GREGOR, aged 33. He was removed about three weeks ago during the inclement weather from the Constablewick of Brougham, in Westmorland, by a pass, and was taken ill as soon as he was admitted into the lodging house, where he has been kept at the County expense.

 

At Stainton, near Penrith, advanced in years, Mrs. Jane WILSON, who has left a great number of legacies amongst her friends and relations.

 

At Kelsick, near Wigton, on Wednesday last, Mr. Robert LAWSON, aged 90.

 

On Sunday last, at Maryport, Ann, the wife of Mr. Andrew PALMER, aged 37.

 

In Sparling-st., Liverpool, Thos. WATSON, formerly of Warwick-bridge Mill, near Carlisle, one of the Society of Friends, aged 73.

 

At Whitehaven, in Charles-street, Mr. W. SHARP, aged 84.

 

On Friday, at Highton in Bootle, Mr. John HOBSON, in the 74th year of his age, father-in-law of Mr. BENN, land steward to Lord Lonsdale at Whitehaven. At Bootle, Jan. 22, Mrs. M. CARR, 74. At Priorscale, Mrs. A. MOSSOP, aged 90.

 

On the 16th ult. in an open carriage, on the road from Ravenglass to Ulverstone, in the 58th year of his age, of water in the chest, Mr. William BLECKLEY, of Liverpool, formerly of York, a member of the Society of Friends. His death was so remarkably easy, that the gentleman who was driving the gig, upon whose arms he had reclined for some time, was not conscious when he breathed his last.

 

At Loosinghill, near Ravensworth, Mrs. Elizabeth BROWN, relict of the late Mr. Luke BROWN, at the venerable age of 100 years, enjoying a correct memory to the last.

 

At Kendal, Mrs. BETHAM, wife of Mr. B. of that town, greatly regretted. Same place, suddenly, Mr. WHINNERAY, carrier. Mrs. ELLIOT, aged 80.

 

A few days ago, at Hartley, near Kirkby Stephen, Thos. SLEDDALL, Esq. aged 69. Same place, on Thursday last, Mrs. Nancy ROOKING, aged 80. At Coniston, the Rev. Mr. LINDOW, aged 57, many years incumbent curate of that place.

 

Jan. 28, at Belle Vue, near Dublin, the Right Hon. the Countess of Egmont, after a long illness.

 

On the 27th Dec., at Flatbush, in the State of New York, North America, Mr. Thos. GANDY, aged 40, eldest son of Mr. GANDY, of Kendal.

 

At Dumfries, on Saturday last, in her 75th year, Mrs. ROBERTS, relict of Mr. John ROBERTS, musician.

 

In camp, at Rangoon, East Indies, July 11, aged 26, Gunner Charles M'CLERY of the Hon. E. I. Company's Artillery, of the wounds he received at the siege of that place.

 

At Dum-Dum, Calcutta, on the 9th of May last, in the prime of life, Mr. James GLENDINNING, late merchant in Dumfries, in the military service of the Honourable the East India Company, and formerly first surgeon of the Lowther Castle, Indiaman.

 

On the 28th ult. at Portsmouth, in his 78th year, the Rev. George CUTHBERT, A. M. Chaplain in Ordinary to the King, Prebend and Sub Dean of York, and Rector of Shaw cum Donnington, Berks.

 

On board his Majesty's ship Tamar, in the river Hooghley, on the 23rd July last, James KIRKPATRICK, eldest son of Sir Thos. KIRKPATRICK, of Closeburn, Bart.

 

At Caen, in Normandy, Thomas GARNER, Esq. late of Red-Hill, county of Antrim.

 

At Hull, in Yorkshire, on the 15th ult. that once celebrated jockey, Mr. John CADE, in the 77th year of his age. In the early part of his life, Mr. CADE had the honour to ride for and win the second great St. Leger Stakes, at Doncaster, with Colonel SOTHERAN's bay colt Bourbon by Le Sang out of Queen Elizabeth by Regulus, in 1777. Mr. CADE's principal master was the late Peregrine WENTWORTH, Esq. of Tolstone Lodge, near Tadcaster, Yorkshire. No person was more respected than Mr. CADE. He was allowed to be one of the best horsemen in England, of his day.
