A few days ago, Mr. PATTINSON of Whitrigg, near Kirkbride, to Miss BARNS of Wampole.

[According to the Marriage Bond dated 08 Apr 1779, John PATTINSON, parish of Boulness, yeoman, and Nancy BARNES, parish of Aikton; the license was for Aikton.]

 

DIED.

 

Tuesday last, in an advanced age, Mr. Simon GRAYSON of Wood End, near this town.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Simon GRAYSON of Woodend, aged 75, was buried on 10 Apr 1779 at Egremont.]

 

Yesterday se'ennight at Mowbray-Coat in Abbey-Holme, Mr. Dan GLAISTER, an eminent speaker amongst the people called Quakers: a man of a most amiable life and conversation, which rendered him respected and beloved by a numerous acquaintance of different persuasions.

[According to the Quaker Register, Dan GLAISTER of Mawbray Cote in the Parish of Holm Cultram, aged 79, died on 12 Apr 1779, and was buried on 14 Apr 1779 in Friends Burying-Ground at Allonby.]

 

A few days ago, at Cleator, near this town, William ROBERTSON aged 93, a blacksmith by trade, which he followed assiduously till within half a year of his death. The last 30 years he lived in a little cottage without any companion or assistant; and so remarkable was his strength and agility, that about four years since, he started a hare, followed the coursers, and was the first man in at the death.
