MARRIED

Saturday last in the Isle of Mann, James MOORE, Esq.; (son of George MOORE, of Balla-Mooar, Esq.) to Miss COSNAHAN, daughter of Mr. Hugh COSNAHAN, merchant in Douglas.

[According to Manx National Heritage, James MOORE and Catharine COSNAHAN, daughter of Hugh COSNAHAN, married on 13 Mar 1779 at Braddan.]

DIED

Wednesday last, at his lodgings in Queen-street, Robert VAUGHAN of Cames, Esq.; aged 61, a Captain Lieutenant in the Royal Denbighshire Militia, by whom he was greatly beloved; and on Friday his remains were interred at the Old Church with military honours. Both the officers and privates walked in procession, the music of the regiment playing a suitable piece, the drums muzzled, &c. The crowds of people who assembled to see the funeral were amazingly great, a file of Musketeers lined the walk from the gate to the west door of the Church, which was kept shut till the procession arrived. As soon as the body was brought into the Church, the organ played a solemn dirge. The funeral service was then read, and the corpse taken out with the same solemnity, the organ playing the Dead March in Saul. Three vollies were fired after the grave service was read, and every thing conducted with the greatest decorum. Colonel MYDDELTON made a genteel entertainment for the officers of both corps.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was buried on 12 Mar 1779 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.]

Yesterday, in Quay-street, Mr. Ralph BROCKLEBANK, in an advanced age.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was buried on 17 Mar 1779 at St. James, Whitehaven.]

Same day in Lowther-street, Mrs. Jane FOX, aged 87, greatly respected.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Jane FOX, widow, aged 87, was buried on 17 Mar 1779 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]
