DEATH OF THE EARL OF CARLISLE.—Died on the morning of Sunday last, at his seat, Castle-Howard, Yorkshire, Frederick HOWARD, Earl of Carlisle, Viscount Howard, of Morpeth, Baron Dacres, of Gilsland, K. G. &c. His Lordship was born May 28, 1748, and consequently was in the 78th year of his age. He was educated at Eton College, and succeeded his father, Henry, the late Earl, Sep. 4, 1758. The deceased married March 12, 1770, Carolina, daughter of Granville LEVESON GOWER, first Marquis of Stafford, K. G. whom he survived but a short time; and is succeeded in the title and estates by his eldest son, George, Viscount Morpeth, who, in March, 1801, married Georgiana CAVENDISH, eldest daughter of William, fifth Duke of Devonshire.—To say that the decease of the Noble Earl is universally lamented, is but to express an important fact in common place terms. The independence and honourable uniformity of his political course as a true friend of the people, are engraven on the minds of all; and though we might also trace his steps in the literary world as no ordinary friend of the Muses, yet it is in the path of Christian benevolence and domestic virtue, which surpasses all other distinctions, where we would direct attention, as to a noble example worthy of general imitation.—York pa.
