MARRIED.

 

Mr. John DEANE, keeper of the county gaol of Lancaster, to Mrs. DAWSON, of the Red Lion, Preston.

[According to Lancashire Online Parish Clerk, John DANE, widower of Lancaster, and Alice DAWSON, widow of Preston, married on 29 Jun 1779 at St. Mary, Lancaster.]

 

DIED

 

A few days ago, at Kendal, John HALL, Esq. Adjutant and a Lieutenant of the Westmorland Militia; he was an able and diligent officer, greatly beloved by the corps, and in quelling the late riot in this town (where the battalion was then laying) distinguished himself by such steady bravery, so tempered with compassion, as must render his memory truly respectable. His remains were interred in the Church at Kendal, attended by a vast concourse of people.

Wednesday last at Broughton, Lancashire, in the 46th year of his age, Mr. Richard JACKSON, surgeon in that place; a gentleman of good character and greatly respected both in his public and private capacity: by his desire, he will be succeeded in the business by Mr. RANKING.

Monday at Kinmont near Bootle, Mrs. HODGSON, wife of Mr. HODGSON of that place.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Elizabeth HODGSON, wife of John, of Kinmont, aged 49, was buried on 30 Jun 1779 at Bootle.]

 

Last Thursday, at Hall Warbathwaite, Mr. Henry BORROWDALE.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was of Hall Waberthwaite, and was buried on 03 Jul 1779 at Waberthwaite.]
