MARRIED.

 

Thursday last, Mr. Hugh WINKS, (one of the seamen who brought in the Mercer) to Miss Jane GOPPEY of Quay-street.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, they married on 28 Aug 1777 at St. James, Whitehaven.]

 

Sunday se'ennight, at Bromfield, Mr. John CARR of Woolstey, to Miss Peggy GRAIVE of West-Newton in the parish of Bromfield.

[According to FamilySearch, John CARR and Margaret GRAVE married on 24 Aug 1777 at Bromfield.]

 

DIED.

 

Sunday se'ennight at Penrith, in the 25th year of her age, Miss WILSON, daughter of Mr. Geo. WILSON of that place.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Mary WILSON, daughter of George WILSON, aged 25, was buried on 26 Aug 1777 at St. Andrew, Penrith.]

 

Last week, Mrs. CALVIN, widow of Mr. CALVIN, late an eminent painter in Penrith.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Isabella CALVIN, widow, aged 61, was buried on 26 Aug 1777 at St. Andrew, Penrith.]

 

Thursday last, in the prime of life, Mr. William NIXON, son of Mr. John NIXON, merchant in this town: a young gentleman whose amiable disposition and conduct renders his death sincerely regretted by all who knew him.

[According to the Quaker Registers, William Son of John & Elizabeth NIXON died 28 Aug 1777 aged 28 years 10 months 2 weeks.]

 

A few days ago at Wigton, in an advanced age, and greatly regretted, Mrs. DALTON of that place; in her, the poor have lost a liberal friend.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Elisabeth wife of Richard DALTON, dyer, Wigton, aged 59, was buried on 20 Aug 1777 at Wigton.]
