DEATHS.

Saturday morning last, in this City, very suddenly, Mr. Robt. CARLYLE, aged 52 years. Mr. CARLYLE has long been familiar to the public as a successful cultivator of the fine arts, as a poet, and for his general literary acquirements. The productions of his pencil are to be found in the houses of almost all the local gentry; and many eminent artists were his pupils. His remains were interred in St. Mary's church-yard, early on Monday morning, by the side of those of his venerable father, whose genius he inherited. The funeral was numerously and most respectably attended.

Since our last: Miss Mary GLAISTER, of Upperby, aged 15 years. Miss Mary MILES, of English-street, aged 50 years.

On the 12th ult. at Bankhead, Newby, parish of Irthington, Elizabeth, wife of Mr. Thomas BROWN, aged 50, much respected. She died of that dreadful disorder, a cancer in the tongue.

On the 20th of July last, in New York, America, to which place he went a few years ago, Mr. John HIND, manufacturer, aged 34, third son of the late Mr. John HIND, of Caldewgate, Carlisle. His death was awfully sudden: after taking a short walk, (the thermometer at the time standing at 106,) he found himself momentarily seized, and in less than an hour and a quarter was a corpse.—The letter containing the account of his death, states, that between 30 and 40 had died within the last fortnight from drinking cold water.

At Whitehaven, Mrs. ELLIOT, at the advanced age of 92, relict of the late Captain ELLIOT, of that port. In New Lowther-street, aged 35, Margaret, wife of Mr. Kenneth MATHIESON, contractor for building the New Western Pier. Awfully sudden, on Tuesday week, Mrs. WILSON, wife of Mr. John WILSON, Plumbtree Bank, Heversham. She arrived in Kendal on that day to witness the ascent of the Balloon, and dined at Mrs. BRAITHWAITE's, Kirkland. Suddenly, at his house in Edinburgh, on Saturday evening, John Francis, Earl of Mar, 85 years of age.

At Douglas, Isle of Man, Mr. John MARKS, an itinerant bookseller.

After a short illness, on the 14th inst. at his house in Newry, Dr. O'KELLY, R. C. Bishop of Dromore.

On Thursday afternoon, Admiral Lord Radstock was seized, at his house in Portland-place, with a sudden attack of apoplexy. The strength of his constitution struggled with that of the malady till Saturday, when the hopes which had been entertained of his recovery vanished, and his Lordship expired. Admiral Lord Radstock, G. C. B. aged 72, was the second son of John, third Earl of Waldegrave, by the Lady Elizabeth LEVESON GOWER, sister of the Marquis of Stafford.
