Your gay history

I am interested in how gay men formed community before Stonewall (or
after stonewall, if you are a younger man). How did gay men find and
meet each other in your city? What role, if any, did adult oriented
businesses (like adult bookstores) play in your experience? If you
frequented tearooms or parks, how did you find out about these places?
Do you have any knowledge about how long these places were active (as
cruising areas) prior to your immediate experience? When did the first
gay bathhouse open in your city, if there was one? When did the first
newsletter or newspaper relevant to gay men start up in your city?
