The Apalachacola Bay (and surrounding areas) oyster fishing has been
officially reopened now that the Red TIde has abated here in the
Florida Panhandle.

Colder weather has pushed the remaining flats fish into the creek
mouths. As the weather cools more, the fish will enter the creeks and
hug the bottom, often acting as though they have "lockjaw."

While the saltwater fish there (spotted and white seatrout, redfish,
flounder and sheepshead) can be caught, you must fish all lures very
slowly. All live bait must also be fished ON THE BOTTOM where the water
is warmer.

Grouper are being reported into shallower water also.

To get into most of the productive areas, you must fish from a boat,
canoe or yak. Don't try using a float tube. We have gators year round!

And most areas are inaccessable from shore or bank fishing.

Tight lines!
