Hey Chris,
You will enjoy fishing in S. Florida in September. I live in Fort
Lauderdale and fish as often as I can. My partner lives in Hong Kong
6-9 months a year and I rarely fish without him, just 'cause it isn't
easy to find gay fishing buds. most of the time I just take gay
friends with me and they may fish a minute or two, but most just watch
or drink beer.
Here's what you can expect. in September, in the keys... you will
have lots of yellowtail snapper action. You can find dolphin (mahi-
mahi), but only in the deeper waters. If you are fishing out of Key
West, you'll need to go out quite a ways for them. Here in Fort
Lauderdale, the water is deep and you only need to go out about a mile
and the dolphin will be plentiful, if you can hit a school of them.
For grouper, you probably won't catch any in September, unless you get
very lucky. Mostly, they are in the keys in December & January.
This time of year, they go way out in deep water, as they do not like
warm water. I tried fishing for grouper here in Fort Lauderdale a
couple of weeks ago, as you can find them here in summer, as the water
is much deeper (300-350 feet). But, instead caught amberjack and a
bunch of vermilion snapper.
When i fish in key West, I have a lesbian friend who is a professional
charter boat captain. She is the best fisherman I've ever known.
Here in Fort Lauderdale, I have a gay friendly captain and crew that I
enjoy going out with.
If you want to go out fishing, I'd be more than ready. I take out
friends when I can.
No matter where you fish and what you try for, you'll catch something,
and you'll have the time of your life.
Best,
Jay
