I've been to the lakes dozens of times in the last couple weeks.
They're about 12 miles away and I get to them on my mountain bike. I
can't believe it but when I added up how often I went to the lakes, and
how far, I put over 2500 miles on my bike this summer. Damn, I could
have gone to the Pacific or Atlantic on that! :-) Anyway ... it seems
the fish have gone into dormancy until they re-wire for ice-fishing
temps and start feeding again. (Was 17 degrees F. this a.m.) Now,
unless the dirt & rubble roads out here will be snow and ice-free I
don't think I'll be getting to the lakes all winter. I wonder if I can
buy studded-tires for a peddle-bike? :-)

Anyway, it's been a fantastic fishing season. No record breakers, but 4
and 5 lb bass were pretty often. I even had to switch to Firewire from
all the lures and fish I was losing in the lilypads. I posted a long
thread on my own forums about how to make the switch to Firewire
somewhat hassle-free. It's not like any other fishing lines I've ever
used before. Have to use special knots on everything. And I even found
a way to get my casting distance back with the stuff. Sorry, I won't
share that tip here, that's for members-only on my own forums. :-)

Still though, the last week the fish were biting I even got a nice 5.5
lb Northern. Heh, was funny trying to get it back on my mountain bike.
I had to bend it in half and leave its head and tail hanging out of my
bike's saddle-bags. Bet it looked funny going down the road. :-)

I hope everyone else has had a great fishing season.

I'll be hanging out on my own "Gay Outdoorsmen" forums at
http://www.keoeeit.com/go/ for the most part this winter. Hopefully a
few people that actually can contribute to the discussions will show
up. Those that have joined but not contributed in the past all got
their accounts wiped out. No loss whatsoever, far as I can tell. Just
their loss. And if others don't show up, I'll just keep blogging away
on the forum like I always have, it's been great for that :-) (Sorry,
no anon web-mail addresses allowed at Gay Outdoorsmen anymore, too many
spammers and hackers in the past. Seems that problem has finally been
brought under control, big time.)
