The contest results page is nearly complete and I have a final resting place for it. I will keep it here for a few years at least. For those on the page you can use this on a resume for a future job if you would like. For those that didn't make the page I had to cut it somewhere. Sorry. I reviewed the results over and over again and they mostly came out how I expected. In the end it looks like completeness, creativity and the amount of work put into the game, then multiplied by the bonuses for networking or 3d came out mostly how I expected. I don't like being on the judging side, but I feel that I came up with a system that worked in the end.

Please note there is a number change in the url (360). I'm probably going to drop the 370 page at some point and maybe go a little farther on the 360 pages. I got the urls at the same time when I realized my access to the Chapman servers was too limited to be workable.

I would like to continue the disucssion here and would be more than happy to help each of you make really cool games in the future. Rember, the news we keep hearing about independents not having the ability to compete in the game development industry is pure farce. This is news generated by the big game studios in hopes of keeping individuals from competing with them. As with the movie industry the independents will always have the ability to compete with the big guys and in many cases will always force them to improve their meidocre products. There are hundreds of movies to prove this:
Everyone starts somewhere:

Check out New Line Movies

They started with very low budget horror stuff and are a huge mover and shaker now.

Blair Witch
Sideways
Crouching Tiger
Pulp Fiction
George Lucas broke off from the big studios to make independent movies before making Star Wars.

The list is long and I'm just doing this off the top of my head.

The game insdustry has independent games that have been huge as well.
Grand Theft Auto was a simple top down single player game. It took off when they added networking and now with 3d it is huge.
Doom was an independent title that started an new genre.
Tetris still rakes in huge numbers
Duke Nukem
Tomb Raider

The list goes on and on.  If you build fun games then you are well on your way to competing with big companies that are focused solely on money making through the use of movie tie ins and not necessary on fun and intriguing game play. You can compete, you just have to be innovative.
