ESRI sat images status?

I'm enormously excited about the ESRI satellite images, since they are
downloadable.
I wonder - are they "officially" part of the product now? I'm running
the apple store version of 6.2, and I can add that map source by going
to Help, but it's not pre-populated in the map source list.
If it's there for real and won't be taken away, I'll update the info
in my table of gps apps and sing the Gaia GPS praises more loudly.

Hey Amy,

Those maps are not an official part of the app. There are some other apps that have ways to add those tile services, so we went ahead and made the links available in Gaia too, but we haven't been in contact with ESRI.

We'll see what happens - if someone gets grumpy, we might have to take the links down.

I like the Google satellite images better than the ESRI ones. But the
ESRI topo maps a cleaner than the Gaia topo. Its nice to have options
