to George Washington Bridge cyclists/pedestrians
Physical constraints make a significant "improvement" in the GW
Bridge's ridiculous "bike lane" (i.e narrow pedestrian walkway)
impossible, everyone knows that. But bicycles are street vehicles;
they have a right to their share of the streets and highways, just
like motor vehicles. How high does the price of gasoline have to rise,
how congested do the streets of Manhattan have to become, how many
bus, train and car commuters have to watch helplessly as their bodies
atrophy day in and day out in the forced confines of "transportation
hell," before the Port Authority opens one (or at least a margin of
one) of the GWB's impressive twelve (12?) traffic lanes to bicycles?
