I just moved to Fort Lee from Brooklyn and rode down to work (World
Trade Center) today for the first time. I am not sure how to get on
the path next to the highway as soon as I get off the bridge on 178th
in Manhattan. I took Riverside drive all the way to 72nd and then took
the bike path.

Any suggestions?

If you're ok with going a block in the wrong direction I would go down
181, otherwise it's south to 158. If you go 181 go all the way down
the hill then right at the bottom and you'll see the pedestrian
bridge. Make sure your brakes are in good working order because the
hill right after you get on the bike path is something special.

If your destination is south from the GWB, the shortest route to the
bike path is a circular route 0.8 miles long. You'll see (look at my
map posted here) that it's not direct. Another problem is that you'll
lose your altitude quickly and therefore lose a lot of speed in the
long run. But it's probably the safest route. The alternatives are
more gradual slopes along Riverside Drive West. There is car traffic
there, but car speeds are usually low thanks to many stoplights along
the T-shaped intersections.

I have been truly enjoying the Ft Washington to 165th to Riverside Dr
route.

also, don't you have to dismantle for an overpass the other direction?

I like the 165th to Riverside route also. When I go southbound on Riverside around 6pm on weekdays, there are hardly any cars at all.

I would like to know any favorite connections between Southbound Riverside Dr West to the Bike Path. What is the best way?

No, no dismounting necessary for the overpass. But if you look at my map you'll see how inefficient it is.

I don't take bike path too often, but I think it might be the most
efficient to get on at 95th Street.

My favorite way is to take riverside south to 79th, make a right to
the end of 79th, around the rotunda and down the path into the park.
