Its the hands and feets that you need to think about, good winter gloves and shoes big enough for thick socks. Long trousers with bracelets is good to have, I found a good pair by cannondale. When it snows they may close the bridge without notice. I use an old bike in good shape that I can lock near the GW Bus station without loosing sleep. There are definately less problems with barberque parties and glass in winter!:-)
