Hi Terence!
Are you looking to do vermicomposting with worms? I'm just a novice
so not an expert -- I've learned that red wiggler worms are the best
for processing food scraps & compost as they love eating
decaying organic matter and stay closer to the surface. Earthworms
are tunnelers, great for the garden as they prefer to go deeper and
create aeration in the subsoil, and apparently don't eat food scraps
like red wigglers do.
I've purchased 25lbs of red wiggler worms from Laughing Buddha in
Metairie. You'll need to call the order in as they bring the worms
down from their farm in MS.
Also, there is someone in Lafayette running a great worm compost
operation called Worm Lady Recycles, her website says she ships.
