Congress has been passive as Trump has defied the Constitution by usurping Congressional powers to establish/shutter agencies and spend/impound money. Now, multiple reports indicate that the Republican Congress is resisting some aspects of Trump’s proposed cruel cuts to health, education, and the social safety net. “Congressional Republicans have reached the moment they’ve been waiting for—writing up their sprawling bill to enact Trump’s legislative agenda—and are, at this moment, stuck. They can’t settle on a way to enact hundreds of billions of dollars in Medicaid cuts that doesn’t scare the crap out of both moderate members and Trump. On SNAP benefits, another major target for cutting, they’re running into the same issue.” (Slate)

Popular pressure is having an effect, but We the People have to keep up our efforts until the federal 2026 budget action in Congress is completed. Although Trump’s approval rating is sinking, he rates about ten percentage points higher than the Democratic Party. We will lose unless we outwork the billionaires.
Please contact Congress and tell them to resist boldly and loudly, using every public relations channel and every trick in the Congressional rule book. See below for how to contact your representative and senators.
