Charles R --
Greetings
from Ranked Choice Voting Maryland!
We hope
you survived the onslaught of TV adds, phone calls, and campaign signs
during the Maryland primary election! The 2024 cycle is bringing new
focus to Ranked Choice Voting, especially in Maryland where RCV is
making local news.
In the
past twelve months we’ve grown our movement to over 3,500 supporters,
over 400 volunteers, and held over 50 events across the state. If
you’d like to join our volunteer teams and help spread RCV in our
state, please sign

Recent Highlights
Local news
is paying attention to RCV! One article in The
Baltimore Banner features our Executive
Director, Cynthia Richie Terrell. In The
Baltimore Sun is a guest column by Julia Nickles
Bryan, a member of All Votes Count Maryland.
And we have a story of our own to share! As
our movement continues to grow, we thought it would be nice to have
one-on-one conversations with our volunteers. This month
Communications Lead Owen Anderson interviewed Canvassing Captain Eric
Schmidt to hear how he became interested in RCV and the importance of
our canvassing efforts. Read the volunteer
spotlight on our
blog page.
And lastly, FairVote published an article on
their website explaining why Maryland's
primaries need ranked choice voting.

DC Ballot Campaign
The
Initiative 83 campaign and Make
All Votes Count DC still needs to collect 30,000
signatures by early July to get RCV on the ballot in November. The
campaign is making a lot of progress, crossing the 20,000 signature
milestone just in the last few weeks! Winning RCV in Washington D.C.
will have a huge impact on RCV campaigns in the U.S. You can volunteer
here
to gather signatures and help out the campaign.
Going Forward
We are
building a coalition, with leaders from RepresentWomen, League of
Women Voters, Common Cause, Women's Democratic Club of Montgomery
County, FairVote, and Rank The Vote, to spread RCV in Maryland. If you
are part of an organization that would be interested in joining our
coalition or endorsing RCV, please reply to this email.
Currently, our efforts are focused on encouraging municipalities
to adopt RCV in their local elections. In order to accomplish this, we
are building chapters of our grassroots movement in Annapolis,
Baltimore, College Park, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Hyattsville, and
Rockville. Contact us by replying to this email if you live in one of
these locations and want to help out!
If you
already signed up to volunteer, but haven’t heard from us, please
contact susann...@gmail.com. We are looking for volunteers with social
media, fundraising, and public speaking skills, as well as volunteers
who are local to Annapolis.
Stay
tuned for more updates in our upcoming newsletter for June.
