Hi Everybody,
I've included below the Global Kids Island
monthly newsletter, which we distribute in-world on the teen grid.
Hopefully this can give people a sense of things that are happening in
that space, and make sure that what happens in the teen grid doesn't
just stay in the teen grid.
We do have some events or announcements
that are relevant for people that have accounts on the main grid, and
I've highlighted in red items I thought would be relevant or GK events that
are happening on the main grid.
Also, if you're an educator or parent that
would like to get your teen students involved in GK programs on the
teen grid, feel free to mail me off-list.
best,
Rafi

ICC Prosecutor and Former Foreign Minister of Canada Open the Justice
Center in SL
On March 20, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court,
Mr. Luis Moreno-Ocampo, and Mr. Lloyd Axworthy, the former foreign
minister of Canada, appeared at the Global Kids' International Justice
Center in Second Life for a remarkable discussion with SL residents.
Teens on the teen grid were able to watch the proceeding live, as well
as submit questions to the two distinguished guests. The
occasion was the official opening of the Justice Center, which
received more than 150 avatars on its first day. The event was

Kids Streams Kofi Annan into Four Virtual Worlds and the
Web!++
In the elegant grand ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York
City, Mr. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations,
was bestowed the first International Justice Award by the MacArthur
Foundation at a black tie dinner attended by 1,200 distinguished
guests on March 20. Meanwhile, Global Kids brought this historic
event to a broader public audience by streaming live video from the
event into the Justice Center in Second Life, within the Second Life
Teen Grid, on the web, and into the virtual worlds of Whyville
(whyville.net) and There.com. We believe that this is the first
time that a live event like this has been video broadcast into four
virtual worlds and the web in this fashion.

D.I.D.I. Teams!!!++
We're excited to add to our list of D.I.D.I.'s Venture Teams!
Teams "KLASS" and "A New Tomorrow" have both
presented to a DIDI Panel.... KLASS plans to address problems faced by
teens including stress, self-mutilation, suicide, drug abuse, and
underage drinking. The team will work within Teen Second life to raise
awareness about these issues, and to create a peer support group to
help teens around the world who are dealing with these issues. In
order to sustain the venture, KLASS will create and sell products in
Second Life such as bracelets and t-shirts with inspirational phrases
that reflect the mission of KLASS. A New Tomorrow aims to raise
awareness among Teen Second Life residents about cancer and other
major health problems. The team is constructing a facility where teens
will be able to gather, learn about health issues, and participate in
fundraisers to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
++ MetaVersa
Island Opening Up on the Teen Grid! ++
From TSL Approved Adult Ziggy Tomorrow:
After our first 5 month in the teengrid it's time to celebrate an
official opening of our german TSL island "Metaversa".
Metaversa is a german educational non-profit organization. We are
located in Berlin.
The goal of our TSL project is to give german teens the possibilities
to participate in the Second Life community and get them in touch with
other teens around the world. In the last month the number of german
teens in TSl was growing very fast. They are very engaged to
participate in the Metaversa island. What we got until now is a big
shopping mall, a karttrack and a lot of flats.
We would like to invite all teens in TSL now to our opening on
Saturday, 12th April, 10 AM - 2 PM SL time
The german teens will make some sightseeing tours around the island, a
kart race and an avatar contest. We'll finish with live DJing of
german HipHop music.
