Hello to all those on this newly created list!
I've shared below our monthly Global Kids Newsletter, which gives
info about what we're doing over on the teen grid. We figure
that unless we get it out there, it'll just stay in the teen grid.
If you have any questions about any of our programs and ways that you
can get involved, feel free to send me an email.
Also, I've included a new feature in this month's newsletter.
If there is something that we feel is of immediate relevancy or
accessible to folks on the Main Grid of SL (such as an event we're
co-locating on both grids), I've put it in
Red.
Cheery Tuesdays to all,
Rafi

On the afternoon of November 14th, GK hosted a live video stream of
Barry Gkid speaking from LA about Teen Second Life and education.
We also had the first public viewing of the incredible build
"Witnessing History: The Night of Broken Glass" that evening.
Big thanks to GK Intern Dion Zabelin for his help running this
event!

The
"Witnessing History" Build will be coming to the Main Grid

++ GK Fireside Workshops
get Presidential! ++
This past month we had two
great Fireside Workshops that honed in on the US primary races.
The workshops, titled "The Race 08: What's Your Stance?" examined
the stances that various candidates for
president hold on the issues most important to
TSL residents. This month, Rafi Gkid and Mercury Metropolitan
held chats focused on two front-runners,
Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton.

++ Intern Event
- The Teen Grid - Evolving, or
Devolving? What we can do to help. ++
Saturday, November 10th, Noon PST
In what ended up being a powerful event where teens reflected on the
teen grid, this debate and discussion showed how much teens care about
their community, and identified ways in which they believe it can be
improved. See the great run down of the event by Alex:

++ GK staff Meet 'n Greet
++
On November 28th, GK held a
staff meet 'n greet in the D.I.D.I. coffee house. Teen grid
residents got to learn about the background of the online leadership
staff, what projects they work on, and got to pose questions to the
staff about important issues like what their favorite flavor ice cream
is. Good times!
++ GK/UNICEF Convention on
the Rights of the Child Birthday Event ++
In celebration of the Convention's 18th birthday, Global Kids held a
screening of the CRC machinima videos in Second Life on Wednesday,
November 14, 2007. Over 40 residents in Teen Second Life signed the
virtual birthday card to help promote awareness and the UNICEF's
CRC@18 website. Teens wore virtual T-shirts saying "I support
children's rights," and stood by a virtual rock stating
"Children's Rights Rocks!"
