thanks islam, isn't there a setting in google groups to allow only members of the group to send emails?!.. it will be very useful in this situations

There is such option. However, this won't prevent spam completely because a member can be infected by a worm that will send on his behalf. 
I encourage everybody to be vigilant and be aware of suspicious emails that might contain worms.
