to GDC Meet a Mentor FAQs
Hi guys,

I'm sure like me you've had one eye on the news all weekend. I hope all is going well for you.

As usual, I'm writing to ask for help. We're holding a Career Hacking - Interview Skills event for several communities tomorrow (LJC, FEL, GDC and GGUG). One of our mentors has had to drop out so I thought I would quickly check whether anyone with interviewing experience was unexpectedly free tomorrow evening and could join us at UCL.

We have about 95 people signed up to come along and 6 mentors. One or two more mentors would be ideal!

The event details are here. The key point is that this isn't a recruitment/match making event, so mentors don't need to be currently involved in interviewing. They just need to have clear ideas about what they look for in interviewees, and about the way they like to run interviews themselves. We have heard from many prospective candidates over the years that they get more nervous about interviews because they find themselves in two minds about how to prepare. Giving people who might be applying for jobs in the next few months the opportunity to talk to people with experience as hiring managers allows them to gain insights into different approaches to interview, and to be clearer about their own strategy for their next interview.

Please let me know if you can join us, and I'll introduce you the rest of the team and send last event details to you.

Many thanks,

Maggie
