John Frank,

Thank you for sharing,

I keep pinching myself, but I must be awake or I need to pinch harder. :)

Amazing isn’t it. But maybe the following can explain it some.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD …………  Psalms 33:12

And as George Washington said:

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

Which makes sense because how can we expect to be successful if we disconnect from the One who created it all. The foundation of this country was established and brought to fruition by men and women who testified that the one true God is the God of the bible.

If you are someone who believes that the God of the bible is old-fashion and that there are many paths to God. And who think it is arrogance for anyone to proclaim a specific road map to God. And who say “How can anyone really know?” I will say this: Is it so hard to believe that the one true God who created it all is able to reveal Himself to whosoever He wishes? And to also hide himself from whosoever He wishes? Would not common sense say, for the one true God, it would be easy to do this?

This brings me to the purpose of this email.

One of the topics discussed at our meeting on February the 19th was about whether talking about God and religion should be a part of this group. It was decided in the affirmative and here are some guidelines and thoughts on the subject:

Without God we will definitely fail, so of course we want to include God in the group.

This group believes the same as our Founding Fathers in “Freedom of Religion”

What this means is that everyone can share what they believe about God and what they believe spiritually. That is what Freedom of Religion is – freedom to share and express your faith. So all faiths are welcomed. Everyone is free to share whatever they believe. And the guiding overall rule of conduct for this group is to love, respect, and to be polite to everyone.

A couple of  examples:

1)   It is my belief that, like George Washington, it will be impossible to get this country back on the right track without God and the bible. I have the freedom to share this. And if someone else has other beliefs, they are free to share their beliefs.

2)   So if Freedom of Religion were in public schools what would that look like:

Well, it would be wrong to keep anyone from praying if they wanted to. And it would also be wrong to force someone to pray if they did not want to. A minority should not prevent a majority from expressing their faith and the majority should not keep the minority from expressing their faith if they so desire. The above would also be done appropriately, practically, and with common sense. It would be natural and should be expected that the amount of expressions of a particular faith in a setting would be relative to the percentage of adherents to that particular faith in the setting.

So one of the things that this group can do is to help inform and educate others on what “Freedom of Religion” really is.

And then while we are on the topic, what would Separation of Church and State look like:

Well simply put, The State should not establish an official church or denomination.

The State however should protect and allow the free exercise of religion, which is essential if a State is to truly have freedom of religion. It also doesn’t keep elected officials from expressing and sharing their beliefs if they so desire.

I know that many in this country know the God of the bible. So I have great hope. And my prayer is that those who know the one true God will deepen their connection with Him and rise up and join together to shine light on the pathway that leads to eternal life and a relationship with the one true God who loves each and everyone of us perfectly.

So in a nutshell this is the policy of this group.

Thanks again for sharing,

Bill Meiners
