Hello all,
February 19, 2011 Meeting Report:
It was very enjoyable meeting with Jeff Tate and Paul Linney. I am sorry for those who were not able to make it.
We had a very interesting time of discussion and getting to know each other. I thought it was a good meeting and start. We were there for 3 hours and could have talked a week. I think we had an excellent general discussion.
I think we all agreed that America needs to make some very significant changes in order to avert some very dire consequences.
I looked up the quote that I remembered the essence of but didn’t remember exactly.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
Edmund Burke
Irish orator, philosopher, & politician (1729 - 1797)
That is the purpose of this group. To do our part to do something.
A big part of what we talked about is what can we do to make significant positive changes in America. How can we as individuals and as a group make the best use of our time, efforts, and energy to help make needed changes?
We agreed that if we can connect as a group we can accomplish more than the sum of us acting as individuals.
It was a very interesting discussion and got us all thinking and looking at different perspectives. I thought our discussion was a good start and will form a foundation from which to start to search out some good answers and direction for the group.
So that is a question we are still working on and is in process.
In finding the above quote by Edmund Burke I also found another quote from him that I thought was also applicable to this group at this time.
“No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.”
Edmund Burke
One of the things that we decided is that it would be helpful if we had more members who were motivated to participate more.
So I have decided to make the following goal for myself: to find 5 more people who relate to Glenn Beck as we do and would be interested in being a part of our local group here (and I have given myself 15 days to do this). I would basically ask people (very politely) what they thought of Glenn Beck and for those who responded positively would ask them if they would like to be part of our Metro Louisville Glenn Beck support group. And if so, get their email.
It is interesting. On the way home from our meeting I stopped at Whole Foods. I thought I would try out the above on a few people that I felt would not mind me asking them. Well I was surprised. I only asked about four, but none of them really knew who Glenn Beck was or just vaguely knew who he was.
To sum up, I enjoyed and learned a
lot from both Jeff and Paul. I look forward to continue to pursue and work
together with Jeff and Paul, and other good men and women to do something, to
do what we can do as individuals and as a group, so that good will triumph over evil (Or at least to do our part and best in that endeavor, and with God's help I know we can have great success).
Tough times are here, Tougher times are coming, The only question is how much tougher those times will be. And the answer to that is partially dependent on you and me.
Blessings to all,
Bill
Quote from Glenn Beck's book "BROKE"
"Forty-two cents of every dollar spent by the federal government in 2010 will be borrowed." page 146
That is huge. Common sense says there are just two options:
1) Drastic changes. (Implying "Good & Positive" drastic changes that will get us going on a good track)
This option will be very painful and a tough pill to swallow.
or
2) American bankruptcy.
This option will be way more painful and catastrophic than option one. And this is inevitable if option one fails.
And it is very hard to predict what exactly it would look like. But for sure a huge amount of suffering and not a lot of resources to help.
God have mercy on America and help us awaken, educate, and inform. Raise up righteous leaders in America to help America get back on a good track and in a good and right relationship with you. May America give you glory and lift up the name of your son, Jesus, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.
