Events in Egypt are at a turning point.
The movement has forced Mubarak toannounce his departure, but demonstrators are demanding he goes now.
Pro-Mubarak thugs - many of them clearly plain clothes police - are trying tocreate a strategy of tension, violently attacking protesters in Tahrir square.The next few days are crucial to what happens next.
We are therefore calling a demonstration in solidarity with the Egyptian uprising this Saturday.

S3M-07870 Bill Kidd (Glasgow) (Scottish National Party): Support for the Egyptian People— That the Parliament wishes to express its full support for the demonstrations by the Egyptian people by stating its unequivocal belief that all peoples have the right to live in a free and democratic society unshackled by dictatorial oppression and the fear of arrest, detention and torture by a private army disguised as a police force, as it considers is the case of the 30-year rule of Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak, and calls on President Mubarak to halt what it sees as the thuggish behaviour of his supporters and to step aside now, rather than holding off until September, in order to avert further bloodshed of innocent Egyptians and allow a peaceful transition to democracy.

UAF is calling on antiracists and antifascists across the country to mobilise against the English Defence League in Luton on Saturday 5 February.
The EDL, a violent racist organisation with links to the British National Party and other fascist groups, has called a ‘protest’ on that day – they describe it as going ‘back where it all began’. http://uaf.org.uk/2011/01/all-antiracists-and-antifascists-should-be-in-luton-on-sat-5-feb/
