Please read below email from Jerry.

I turned at Spanish just as Clemens was coming through the light and we rode together coming back home. For the second time I caught the Hillsborough bridge, and as Clemens and I stood in the shade by the entrance to the private club a police officer pulled up and asked if he could speak to us for a minute. He stayed in his car so I knew we weren't in trouble at least! It turns out he's the officer who has been writing tickets at the bridge. He said that 3 of the people he wrote went to court and all 3 had to pay.

He was actually very nice to us (showing us his copy of the rule book that I think we all have from the State of Florida) and wanted to tell us that sometime in April (he didn't know the exact dates) there will be a big enforcement operation in the area to target cyclists who "weave in and out of cars" when the bridge is up, as well as cyclists who go around the barrier right before it goes up. I'd really like to get the word out so that the only people who get ticketed are the cyclists who don't follow any of the rules like blowing through red lights. It wouldn't bother me at all to see some of those people pay.

Jerry.

Gee I wish these "cops" ( I use quotes 'cuz I have very little use for most Florida cops.....most are lazy and as dumb as the day is long, while considering themselves above the law) would target all those dangerous drivers on A1A with as much zeal!!! All those people not using directional, doing 60 mph on A1A, pulling out of driveways stores without the right of way, parking in the bike lane, etc. They are for the most part useless.
