Don't let these cops intimidate you. My mom said she ran into a cyclist today that got a ticket (not sure for what) anyhow he was very upset and especially since the cop said he would get points on his license. Yes we are considered a vehicle but know your statues obviously most cops don't know. ● Points are not assigned to the driver license of a person who committed a violation while driving a bicycle Points apply only to motor vehicle operation [§322 27(3)(i)] Please try to read the statues. I know they are confusion and somewhat contradicting but at least you can show them on the spot. I would love to know what the cyclist was charged with, since I was told by the Hillsboro Police Dept. that this "crackdown" was mostly for educating both sides....cyclists AND motorists. The person I spoke with downplayed issuing tickets.

I told the person the situation would be substantially better if the Dept. of Transportation had been allowed to add a bike lane in Hillsboro, as was planned a few years ago till a couple of the fat cats squashed it. There was silence on the other end of the phone.....
