Srimad-Bhagavatam – Canto 3 The Status Quo

Chapter 12: Creation of the Kumāras and Others

Brahmā, who was empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, thought of generating living entities and begotten sons for the extension of the generations.
Marīci, Atri, Angirā, Pulastya, Pulaha, Kratu, Bhrgu, Vasishtha, Daksha, and the tenth son, Nārada, were thus born.
Nārada was born from the deliberation of Brahmā, which is the best part of the body. Vasishtha was born from his breathing, Daksha from a thumb, Bhrgu from his touch, and Kratu from his hand.
Pulastya was generated from the ears, Angirā from the mouth, Atri from the eyes, Marīci from the mind and Pulaha from the navel of Brahmā.

Sathya Sai Baba
God descends for the people and among the people with love, compassion and affection, and mixes with the Individual Consciousness (Jeeva Prajna) so that Divine Consciousness (Deva Prajna) may be attained. Such rare opportunities are bestowed upon individuals as a result of the good deeds of past several lives. A Guru is truly like God. Guru teaches in order to build the character of the devotee, so he or she can have a good future. A good devotee/student is he or she, who has utmost devotion towards their Guru and surrenders at their Master’s feet. Arjuna personified an ideal devotee who surrendered completely to his Master, Lord and Guru, Sri Krishna. Arjuna said to Krishna, “I will do whatever You tell me to do”. This is a classic act, an example of complete surrender to God. Students today must follow Arjuna as their role model and achie ve complete surrender of their lives to service and betterment of the society.
- Divine Discourse, 25 Dec 1980.

Obey the Guru, follow His instructions and progress along the spiritual road - this is true worship of the Lord’s feet (Pada Puja). - Baba
