Vito Pinto
represents the 10th District in the Westchester County Legislature. The
10th District includes Tuckahoe, Eastchester, and most of northern New
Rochelle.
I have heard a
report that he is responsible for causing the Westchester County Police and the
Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation to harass
dog walkers in Scout Field Park. Scout Field Park is a county park located
where Bronxville, Yonkers and Mount Vernon meet along the banks of the Bronx
River.
Vito Pinto and
County Executive Spano are executing the plan of the Eastchester Youth Soccer
League (EYSL) to drive dogs out of Scout Field. The enforcement effort
include police on bicycles, police hiding in the woods, and police raiding the
Park at all hours. The police have given tickets to people sitting on
blankets with their dogs because their hand was not at all times on the
leash. People with dogs have been handcuffed. The EYSL has long
sought control of Scout Field because their efforts to construct a soccer
"machine" in Eastchester have met opposition from the schools of Eastchester and
have caused the expensive and ill-fated effort to "reconstruct" the fields
located within the Town of Eastchester. Jim Solomone and Frank T.
d'Onofrio are leaders of the EYSL.
I would encourage
everyone in Vito Pinto's district to send him and his staff e-mails voicing
your thoughts about his efforts.
Could County
Legislator Pinto redeem himself by supporting efforts to legalize off-leash dogs
at the City of New Rochelle's Ward Acres Park ?
