Medical insurance is personal choice when travelling anywhere. Thamkrabok does not give medical treatment therefore it is not essential for your visit to the monastery. However if you plan on staying in Thailand after your visit to Thamkrabok perhaps you can consider it. I do not recommend you travelling though after detox as there are a lot of temptations, everything from alcohol which is also a mind altering substance to stronger stuff. You need time to recover. Your stay in Thamkrabok is just the start it is the months afterwards that need to be faced and you should have a plan of changes to your life style organised. Coming home to the same environment, stresses and triggers is not advisable. Set yourself up to come home to some positive plans, ideas and support when you may face something that triggers your usage. Like the old saying goes “if you keep doing the same thing and except a different outcome” etc. Your life, friends, places must become a place of no drugs.
