Dear friends:

Our year-end request: Please give Keren Malki your financial support

As 2010 comes to a close, many of you are making end-of-year decisions about donating to worthy causes. At Keren Malki, we are focused at this time of year on maintaining and expanding our activity, supporting those amongst us who benefit tremendously from what Keren Malki gives.

We are an Israel-based not-for-profit, providing tangible and unique support to many hundreds of families who are caring for a special-needs child. Our support reaches every sector of Israeli society, regardless of race, religion or political viewpoint. We empower these families, giving them the means to give the best available paramedical therapies and special equipment for their child’s development.

No other organization does what Keren Malki does

Since its inception in 2001, Keren Malki has become an invaluable source of support for Israeli families with special needs children.

Via our Right to Nurture Program, we have funded more than 35,000 paramedical treatments so far: occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, therapeutic horse-riding and hydrotherapy.

Our Keren Malki Special-Equipment Lending Unit, in partnership with Yad Sarah, has delivered thousands of items of homecare equipment (special chairs, walkers, standers) to make it easier and more effective for special-needs children to thrive in their parents’ care at home.

And starting in early 2011, our new and innovative program, the Zlata Hersch Memorial Therapists on Wheels Program, will get underway. Keren Malki will provide mobile therapists who will travel to where the special-needs children live, delivering quality paramedical therapies in Israel’s northern and southern periphery. In those areas, access to such services is inherently more difficult; fewer therapists are available, and distance makes it hard to bring the child to the therapy sense. We believe this is a creative solution to a serious challenge. We are looking forward to see it thrive at least as well as our two older programs have done.

We rely on private contributions to provide the support we do. The financial crisis has hurt our donor base at the very time that the families we support are also finding it more difficult to fund their children's care. Your financial support is vital for us to continue, and we are most grateful for your generous contribution.
