“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a
lion.” Proverbs 28:1
That one-line proverb can be quickly read and forgotten; but one
frightful night it became a memorable experience. I was walking
alongside a solitary Quonset hut with the intention of unlocking its
front door to prepare for a fellowship meeting and Bible Study. To my
left was a large vacant lot and the moonlight exposed a man running
toward me.
Instead of being terrified, I was filled with peace that cannot be
described as I listened to these whispered words:
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a
lion.” Proverbs 28:1
Because of Jesus, I was bold as a lion. I did not scream or run; but
walked calmly at my normal pace. The man fell. He got up and
continued running toward me. He stumbled and fell again. Then he got
up, turned around and ran away.
Today, I am old --and the Quonset hut is gone. The word of God
remains the same so that another generation can know Him and His power
to help them in their time of need.
