mapping alternate sound roms

Hey, another request from my beta-teter list is to add support for the swear roms.  I wasn't going to do this since I am a Christian and don't believe in it but I might cave in here.  Anyway, is there a way for the code to detect which set of sound roms is plugged in at boot up or is the only way to do it is to add an option in the menu?
