Symbolic Insight to host 3rd Annual Transistor Electronic Sound Art
Festival
Symbolic insight presents the third annual transistor electronic
sound art festival June 12, 13, 14, 2009 in Denver, Colorado. The
transistor festival is a community event with the goal of bringing
together like-minded talented artists and those who are interested in
supporting innovative and modern electronic sound artists. This year
we are encouraging acts to collaborate in their performances by
pairing acts for verses sets (Friday) as well as grouping acts in
larger ensembles to work organically together in an "immersive ambient
environment " (Sunday) and a continuous "noise room" (Friday). This
years events will feature over 30 different music acts with video
projection at a different venue for each day. Day one, Kazmos Lounge
(1381 Kalamath, 21+) will be a night of dark industrial EDM noise, day
two at Blue Sky Collective (9635 W. Colfax, all-ages)) will be electro-
acoustic, IDM, and bands, and day three (Gypsy House, 1279 Marion, all-
ages) will be an evening of epic ambient soundscapes. We are very
excited to continue the legacy of transistor festival and our 2009
event will be a one of a kind experience for both the performers and
the audience.
Symbolic insight is an experimental electronic music production
company founded in 1998. The studio is owned and operated by producer
Wesley Davis (aka bios+a+ic), and includes a music studio, label, and
event production. Jewl Petteway (aka bahiya) is intergral part of the
process, assisting with organization, operation, event promotion, and
management.
Wesley Davis has been creating and performing music for over 20
years. He has produced over a dozen electronic experimental cds, most
released on his label, symbolic insight. He has also been very active
with productions, creating and promoting such multi-media events as
the Seattle Noise Festival, Dronerama 1 & 2, textures (Westwords Best
ambient showcase 2009), and numerous entropic advance multi-media
shows, which include video, dancers, and music. He currently works as
a live sound engineer, studio producer, and a professional musician/
sound artist with the projects super_position, entropic advance,
sonolumina, usA, and bios+a+ic.
Julia "Jewl" Petteway has been a musician, dancer, and performing
artist since she was a child. She has performed in theater, directed/
co-directed multi-media collaborations with performing groups, and
with sound artists like entropic advance and Legion Within of Seattle
in addition to numerous musical collaborations. She performs solo as
bahiya, as a noise duo with usA, and is currently exploring
experimental electronics with her partner Wesley in a collaboration of
"transglobal experimental IDM" called sonolumina, which consists of
manipulated eastern percussion, processed trumpet, processed violin,
vocals, and more.
