Hi All,

Here is a copy of an email Dave and I sent this morning, along with
Bobbie Regan's response (Also heard back from Sarah Carlin Ames for
Carole with about the same message). After tomorrow night's vote -
assuming they approve current resolutions) it will be the time to ramp
up - and let our Franklin community voices be heard - around boundary
changes (and whatever else you'd like to weigh in on). I have
included the sup/board/staff emails below in case anyone doesn't have
them already.

Subject: Franklin parents weigh in

Dear Superintendent Smith, Board and Staff,

Thank you again for your tireless efforts on the high school
redesign. We believe things are moving in the right direction and
would like to briefly add some input:

1. Eliminate all transfers - this is the reason why things are out
whack
2. Return Woodstock Elementary to the FHS catchment (Cleveland High
School's enrollment is currently has 1597 students while Franklin
has
1063)
3. Retain Creston in the FHS catchment (former site of FHS - deeply
imbedded in community, boundaries across street from FHS)
4. Move JMP to FHS catchment as Mt Tabor Middle School in in the FHS
catchment
5. Maintain Sunnyside in the FHS catchment

The biggest hurtle in front of this redesign is the balancing of the
demographics between the high schools. In some cases to balance the
demographics this is going to have to require students to travel
longer distances, for instance, Lane MS going to Cleveland.
