to Four Corners ABA
Hello,
Most of you are aware of the statute that passed in Colorado mandating
ABA insurance coverage for children with autism. There was recently
some attempts at stalling the statute's implementation that were
thwarted, the good news:

Thanks to the support of Colorado Coalistion of Autism Professionals
(COCAP) members and allied consumer groups, HB 1154, which would have
imposed a one-year moratorium on health insurance mandates, died in
the House State Affairs Committee by ONE vote earlier today. Our own
Dr. David Hatfield testified on behalf of COCAP
and emphasized the group's strong opposition to all parts of the bill.
Several other health care consumer groups also testified against the
bill.
The bottom line: the bill is dead. COCAP played a significant role in
this
result. COCAP also made progress in creating effective partnerships
with
other organizations who share our policy interests at the State
Capitol.

This is a huge win for children in Colorado who have been waiting for
services for years.

More good news:
Colorado has it's first BCBA certification program at UC Denver. Stay
tuned for more details.
