Mesa Verde Sept 16--EARLY NOTICE--WE NEED TELESCOPES!!!!

Hi everyone. I know it is still slightly more than two mos away, but I am putting out an early notice of the need for as many club members to show up with telescopes as possible that night. I did a trial run for the NPS there last year and we drew over 300 people!! Awesome, but DEF overwhelmed scope-wise. I've promised them more help this year.

First--some particulars. The event will be held at Morefield CG Amphitheater parking lot, barely 4 miles in off highway 160. It is a VERY easy 1 hr or less drive from DRO, comparable to Chimney Rock and MUCH easier highway than Andrews Lake. So don't worry about having to negotiate the long, winding road to the main ruins area. 

Secondly, park staff is VERY limited in what they can provide telescope-wise--we managed about 5-6 scopes last yr at most--we need at least DOUBLE that this year. There will be a couple of planning meetings I will attend with more information to be provided, but for now, if you have NOT made one of our events yet this summer, PLEASE consider making this a MUST. And for those who've been helping regularly or just recently, THANKS and don't skip this one!!

We'll wrap our summer season up with a mostly club-only event the next weekend at Andrews Lake, so this will be our last BIG public event--and if last yr is any indication, it will be VERY BIG INDEED! So mark those calendars and get ready--there WILL be LIFE astronomically for the FCSG AFTER the Total Solar Eclipse (or Partial if you stay here) of Aug 21.
