Presenter:  Conway native Dan Spatz, president of  Healthy Flavors Arkansas, a community-focused farm located in the Lollie Bottoms area near the Arkansas River in SW Faulkner County

 

Title:  "Re-imagining Goliath and Defining David:  Co-Creating Community in Conway Around Food"

 

Building on Jay McDaniel's reflections on "The Greening of Religion" to begin Green Month at the Forum last Sunday, namely that eco-theologies are emerging within world religions as expressions of a broader definition of community and the dream of God for the world, Dan will offer a perspective on the industrial food system vs. the local food system, as he shares what that looks like from the perspective of his Healthy Flavors Arkansas farm. 

 

He will tap into an understanding of the David and Goliath story from Samuel that can help us envision the idea of community as exemplified by the emerging local food system right here in the Conway area.

 

Please join us in our temporary location in Fellowship Hall as work continues for the next few weeks on the renovation of our sanctuary building.
