Presenter: Classmember Dr. Peter Mehl, UCA Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, will introduce our Forum book study
Topic: Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? by Michael J. Sandel
Peter will present the first three chapters of the book which introduce three approaches to thinking about justice through a number of "real world" situations. In this course of study, Sandel and Peter, assisted by other familiar Forum leaders (ChrIs C., Clay and Jeff) help us think our way through such hotly contested issues as immigration, the role of markets, national service, affirmative action, same-sex marriage, and the place of religion in politics, as well as the personal ethical questions we confront in our everyday lives.
You can read an outline of the entire course of study in the attached Word document and visit www.justiceharvard.org/justicecourse to see Michael Sandel teaching the course on which this book is based.
We hope you will join us for lively discussions of important issues as, in this season of Lent, we seek to discern what IS the right thing to do.
