Sunday, March 22nd at the Forum
Presenter: Class member Reverend Jeffrey Kelley, Retired United Methodist minister
Topic: Continuing our study of Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? by Michael Sandel with Chapter 8, Who Deserves What?, Aristotle, pp. 184-207.
This chapter introduces us to Aristotle's ethical thinking where we consider the purpose of social and political life together. For Aristotle the purpose of politics is to develop good people and a good society, but what does Aristotle consider a "virtuous person" and a "good society"?
NOTE: Visit www.justiceharvard.org/justicecourse to see short videos of Michael Sandel teaching the course on which this book is based. You will find that there are three videos pertinent to this week's program: "Lecture 18 "What's the Purpose"; Lecture 19 "The Good Citizen"; and Lecture 20 "Freedom vs. Fit"
Everyone is invited to join in this lively participatory experience in pursuit of an answer to Sandel's question: What IS the right thing to do?
In person (Room 222 of the Education Wing adjacent to the Sanctuary Building) or via Zoom
