Sunday, April 12 at the Forum
Presenter: Dr. Clay Arnold, UCA Political Science Faculty Emeritus, presents the fifth program in our study of Michael Sandel's book entitled Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do?
Dr. Arnold will cover Chapter 9, What Do We Owe One Another?, Dilemmas of Loyalty, pp. 208-243.
Please join us as we learn about the relationship between the communities that shape us and our responsibilities to others. Do we only have responsibilities we choose, or do we have obligations as members of communities, nations, cultural traditions? Sandel argues explicitly that the communities that shape us provide us with moral obligations; he is a communitarian.
Visit www.justiceharvard.org/justicecourse to see short videos of Michael Sandel teaching the course on which this book is based. The video pertinent to this week's program is "Lecture 21 "The Claims of Community." You might also like to check out the discussion questions that follow the lecture.
All are welcome to attend! Join us in Room 222 in the Education Building (adjacent to the Sanctuary) or via Zoom at this link:
