Bamboo Doug is "right on", and Sarasota is not that far from the originator of this loop.... I STRONGLY suggest that you call him, find out when it's a good time for him and go visit, "look and learn" about growing and selling bamboo....  It is NOT easy:: like most farm products, for most folks it is not a great money maker..
We know many folks who grow bamboo for fun and profit, but very few of them are able to "quit their day jobs"...  It almost has to be for the love of the plants..  Growing bamboo is infectious::   gets in your blood, so ya keep growing more and more species..   Doug is also correct regards ONLY growing clumpers in your climate..   Ya might also try contacting Roy Rogers, in Tampa..  (Yes that's his real name.),   He has a really neat way of regrowing the clumpers inn pots..
Peace and blessings..  Kinder C..   in Texas      TxBo...@aol.com.

The bamboo business is not for the faint of heart in my opinion, and I believe it involves a fair bit of installation services to really be profitable.
I would suggest making this a fun, side business and giving up your day job if it is wildly successful.  I grow for fun and have made some great bamboo friends, but it's time consuming and the general public can eat you alive. :)

If you are in the Sarasota are, I'd be happy to give you stuff from my yard that would survive in that area.

I can't recommend growing anything but clumping bamboo in Florida.

Best wishes

G'day Folks,  I am interested in dedicating a large portion of my 22
acres to bamboo growing for fun and profit.  Haven't been able to get
help from Florida Agriculture folks.  My property is west of
Gainesville FL near the Suwannee River about 20 miles from the coast.
16 acres are seasonal hammock - sandy loam with plenty of water
(fresh).  The clumping bamboo I have established is thriving (not sure
the name but common variety used for cane fishing poles about 12-15 ft
high, 1-2 inch diameters.  I would like to diversify species adding
larger commerically useful varieties.
If anyone is interested in helping me, perhaps sharing plantings,
co-op, etc, please contact me //ar...@aol.com//.  Anyone who can
recommend links in the central/north FL and southern GA/AL areas would
be a great help too.
