The next meeting of Sarasota Bamboo Society is Saturday May 30, 2009
at 10 AM at Selby Gardens. We had a great showing for our first
meeting in February.

In about 45 minutes, we'll cover selections, planting considerations,
care and feeding, and sources. A Q&A will follow, and then some
socializing. A few bamboos will be sold to benefit the society. Light
refreshments will be available, and fresh coffee will be provided by
Local Coffee & Tea.

Brief Outline of Presentation

Selections –Goals, expectations. Beauty, shade, privacy
considerations. Specific needs of some ornamentals. Max height vs
average height. Figuring out what your “real” hardiness zone is.
Planting – Good placement/planning. Sunlight, irrigation, drainage
considerations. Being a considerate neighbor, right place, right plant
approach (power lines, foundations, pools, etc.).
Care/Feeding – How much water? How much fertilizer how often? What
kind of fertilizer? Pests. Tips and tricks.
Sources – Local and online sources for bamboo. What to expect to pay.
Bamboo on a budget, etc.

RVSP's are appreciated, so please email us if you plan to come.
Consider bringing or telling a friend. Membership is free, although
donations are accepted at each meeting and soon online.

PS - We will have a few bamboos for sale (benefits the society).

See you there!
