Hi everyone.  I know that I have been absent in body, but definitely there in the spirit of sustainability! What I am writing about is that there are some folks interested in learning more/attending FHRC.  I am in a book study and members are reading Spiritual Ecology:  The Cry of the Earth, which has numerous essays written by leaders of many worldwide faiths.  Members of the study are interested in becoming more active LOCALLY in sustainability, and of course I told them about FHRC, classes, and the solar initiative.  That really sparked their interest!!   I looked at the FHRC website, and I noticed there are no classes listed or events coming up, so I am hesitant to steer them towards the website.  Is there some way the website can be updated so interested folks can be steered there?  Does FHRC have any UFM classes slated for Fall/Winter?

Also, when and where is the next meeting for FHRC and also the solar meetings, so I can tell the book club members next week (and I will get started again) .....  get us while we're motivated!   ;-)  Thanks.... Linda S.

Linda, I am interested in this Spiritual Ecology book & we (my husband & I) are having a "sunraiser" at our house Sat., Nov. 2. We live near Leonardville, so members of the Flint Hills Renewable Energy and Efficiency Coop ( FHREEC) are ridesharing from UFM at 7:30 that morning. It will be a work day for sure as we are installing the entire solar array of 7 panels in one day, but its a great way to get a feel for sustainability in action. Let us know if you would like to join us.

I just finished reading the Spiritual Ecology book and joining with about 10 other UU Fellowship people in a weekly discussion of it for the last 5 weeks, reading 50 pages a week.  We thought it was a great book with deep meaning for the earth and all of life on it.  One group member is in another discussion group on this book with friends from her former Catholic church.  It's great to hear, Linda, you are also in a book study on it.  Each chapter writer is someone with a different perspective ranging from scientific to indigenous to clergy to sustainable resource person to just a thoughtful person who cares about the planet.  I think our UU group might continue in some way or another.  We all wished there were a sequel to the book.  I'll introduce FHRC the next time we're together.

I am completely booked this weekend and next and can't make the FHRC meeting or sunraiser, although wish I could.  I have 2 workshops and meetings in Manhattan, Topeka and Lawrence.  One of them is the Movement-Based Empowerment Wksp. here Sat, afternoon co-sponsored by FHRC, which is still possible to enroll, contact or call me at emb...@cox.net or 785-539-2819, flyer is attached.

Best to all,
Pat
