WCA 2012 Scholarships

WCA is pleased to announce the newest lineup of scholarship offerings.
The following awards will be presented at the NBAA (WAI) Convention
Oct. 30 - Nov 1, 2012 in Orlando, FL (www.NBAA.org)

WCA/NBAA 2012 - Application Due Sunday September 30, 2012


Women in Corporate Aviation 2012 Career Scholarship ($2000)

The Women in Corporate Aviation Career Scholarship is offered by the
members and sponsors of Women in Corporate Aviation to any person
pursuing professional development or career advancement in any job
classification of corporate/business aviation. The award must be used
toward a specific program of education. Suggested uses include (but
are not limited to): Flight training, dispatcher training, maintenance
training, corporate flight attendant training and upgrades in aviation
education. The award cannot be used for general business course work.
Scholarship will not be awarded to previous winners of Women in
Corporate Aviation scholarships. If you are a pilot please submit
copies of pilot licenses, medical and logbook pages with your
application.


Corporate Flight Attendant Training Scholarship


This four day training program is the day to day job responsibilities
of a business aviation flight attendant. You will learn how to
approach contract flying, how to interview appropriately for this
industry flying on a contractual basis, how to interview for a full
time position as an informed candidate, how to manage yourself as a
business person which is what you are as a contract/freelance flight
attendant and specific marketing techniques for our industry. We also
teach a great deal of catering information, food safety awareness and
the importance of food on our aircraft throughout the four days as
well as International trip planning for remote global travel on our
long range aircraft. This includes how to gather the information
needed, menu planning, finding catering, ordering it with explicit
detail and the intricacies catering presents for International trip
planning. (Value $3,995.00)


Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. – Corporate Aviation, Maintenance
Technology Scholarship

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. is awarding two separate $5,000
scholarships to anyone pursuing professional development or career
advancement in any job classification of maintenance aviation
technology. The scholarship is open to a woman pursuing a career in or
directly related to Aviation Maintenance or currently enrolled in an
Aviation Maintenance Technician Program (A&P), Avionics Training
Program or a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. The award must
be used toward a specific program of education in the area of aviation
maintenance. Suggested uses include (but are not limited to):
maintenance airframe and power plant (A&P) certificate, collegiate
level aviation maintenance courses, and avionics certification. Award
winner may be considered for future co-op or internship position with
Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
Applicants will be considered based on their personal accomplishments,
community involvement, academic standing, and career goals. Applicants
must be 18 years or older, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident,
and have a high school diploma or GED. In addition to the WCA
requirements, applicant shall provide an essay (500-1000 words)
detailing how this scholarship will benefit their education and/or
chosen career path.
Scholarship winners are required to use their award toward a specific
aviation maintenance program, including airframe and powerplant
certification, college-level aviation maintenance courses or avionics
technician certification.
The winners will be announced during the National Business Aviation
Association Meeting and Convention, Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Orlando, Fla.



Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. Dispatcher License Training
Scholarship
(1 available at $3445 each)

Universal Weather and Aviation

The Universal Aviation and Weather, Inc. Scholarship is offered to
professionals seeking to advance their careers in corporate aviation
with an FAA Dispatcher License. Applicants must be able to read,
speak, and understand English; 23 years of age must be verified.This
scholarship includes the exam fees.
Amount of award: USD Start with online courses, then spend two weeks
on-site in Houston -
Total cost: $3,445
Program fee*: $2,995
FAA written exam: $100
FAA practical exam: $350
This new program allows you to complete half of the coursework online
over a four-month period. Once you complete the online requirements,
you will spend two weeks at our training facility in Houston to
complete the practical portion and take the FAA exams. (It is
recommended that all students complete the two-week on-site course as
soon as possible - no later than 2-3 months after completing the
online modules.)

Aircare FACTS Training - WCA Scholarship Award (value: $4675)

This five-day initial or two-day recurrent emergency procedures
training for business aviation crewmembers is available at any of 50-
plus Aircare FACTS Training programs throughout the United States. The
initial training is divided into two-day indoctrination/galley safety
and service training and three-day Aircare FACTS initial emergency
procedures training. All training meets FAR Part 135 requirements,
industry best practices and IS-BAO standards.


MedAire 2-day Management of In-flight & Illness Course Scholarship

The MedAire training class provides an aviation-focused course that
covers altitude physiology, first aid, CPR certification,
defibrillator training, blood borne pathogens and much more. Classes
are held at various locations including FlightSafety, SimuFlite,
MedAire and other special located facilities throughout the world. Our

University of Southern California Viterbi Aviation Safety & Security
Scholarship ($2250)MedAir

USC Viterbi Aviation Safety and Security Scholarship is offered by the
members and sponsors of Women in Corporate Aviation to anyone who has
demonstrated interest in aviation safety or management in corporate/
business aviation. This award is for the cost of tuition of the 4.5
day Human Factors in Aviation Safety Course offered by USC Viterbi.
This course will provide the participant with human factors knowledge
and practical tools that can be readily applied to improve safety
within their organization. Who should apply?: safety managers,
training, flight department and maintenance managers and supervisors,
pilots, air traffic controllers, dispatchers and schedulers. (Value
$2,250.00)


WCA Aviation Management Scholarship

The WCA Aviation Management Scholarship Award is offered to assist
individuals currently in the Corporate Aviation Industry with the
costs of professional development toward careers in aviation
management.
The award may be used for the following: 1) NBAA Certified Aviation
Manager Certification, 2) NBAA leadership conference, 3) NBAA PDP
courses including SDPD, and others such as, Aviation Safety and
Security training courses (USC Viterbi programs), or Aviation
Management Certificate programs (ERAU).
Applicants must possess relevant certifications such as pilot
certificates, A&P, Dispatcher’s License, or ATC certifications.
Applicants must provide details of course chosen and the cost of the
program.

Funds may cover program fees and examination fees (upon successful
completion). Maximum one award per person per year
