Most of you know that during January and February, members of the MSC are hosting each of our three pre-candidates for a weekend. Below is more detail about the elements that go into each weekend.
Friday Dinner: a social time to get to know each other with the full MSC, the pre-candidate and his/her partner.
Saturday Breakfast: our first opportunity for in-depth discussion with each pre-candidate.
Saturday Tour of Concord Area: 2-3 MSC members show each pre-candidate specific sights of interest to that candidate. (i.e. neighborhoods, schools, stores, recreation options, etc.)
Saturday Lunch: the full MSC and the pre-candidate share a 3-4 hour lunch with in-depth discussion, without the candidate's partner.
Tour of First Parish: 2-3 members of the MSC take the pre-candidate and his/her partner on a tour of our church.
Sunday Service: the full MSC attends a service planned by each pre-candidate at a neutral pulpit church.
Sunday Brunch: the full MSC and pre-candidate share more discussion.
In addition, 2 members of the MSC pick up the pre-candidate at the airport and 2 different members return the pre-candidate to the airport.
You’ll see that we plan both full committee time and smaller group time. At the conclusion of each weekend, the MSC holds a debriefing meeting to share our thoughts and questions.
Your opportunity to meet our final candidate is during the week, April 28 – May 5, 2013. At the end of that week, on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 12:30 PM, we will hold a congregational vote on whether to call the candidate as our next Senior Minister. Please note that according to our bylaws, only members who have signed the book by April 5th are eligible to vote. You can always contact any of us if you have questions: John Boynton (j...@firehousecapital.com), Caroline McCloy (cmcc...@aol.com), Rhoda Miller (rhod...@aol.com), Toby Smith Ropeik (t...@tobyasmith.com), Terry Rothermel (ter...@verizon.net), Mary-Wren vanderWilden (vander...@verizon.net), Fred Van Deusen (fredv...@aol.com), Alec Walker (alecw...@aol.com)
