This past Sunday the Ministerial Search Committee interviewed Elaine via Skype as practice for interviewing ministerial candidates. The technology worked well. We will be using Skype to conduct first interviews with all candidates we are interested in.

The UUA will give us a list of ministers interested in us in less than a week, on Friday, Nov. 30th. If you know a minister you think would be a good fit for First Parish, we encourage you to contact him/her immediately with an invitation to apply.

If you’re curious about our chief competitors, based in this search, based on church size, they are UU churches in Bethesda MD, Burlington VT, Kirkwood MO, and Evanston IL.

If you haven’t already looked, please login and check out our FINAL Packet Web site.  www.fpsearch.org    user: first  password: parish
(
This site will be open ONLY to interested ministers, as of Nov 30th.)

Consider This! (adapted from the BCT Workshop): UUA Case Study #5 (a true UU story)
A Search Committee is afraid to call a minister of Hispanic origin who looks very strong. Concerned that someone with an accent will be difficult to understand, especially for older members with hearing problems, the committee decides not to interview this candidate, even though this may be the best match for the congregation. Whose problem is this and how should it be handled?

Enjoy Thanksgiving!

Best, Toby
